Strong backend engineering fundamentals with a willingness to fill frontend gaps (a 60-70% backend and 30-40% frontend split is highly welcomed). At least 3 years of experience building rich frontend features using modern React (utilizing functional patterns, the Context API, and basic state management; heavy state management like Redux or Zustand is not required). Proficiency in at least one functional programming language (e.g., Scala, Rust, TypeScript, Kotlin, Erlang, Haskell, Elixir, Clojure, Elm, OCaml, or Dylan). Note: JavaScript and TypeScript must be written in functional patterns. Proven experience designing and shipping product features end-to-end. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, or working remotely within the Pacific Time Zone (PDT) with the ability to travel to San Francisco occasionally.
