job summary: As the Coordinator of Product Quality, you will be the essential "nerve center" of our food testing laboratory in Leonia, NJ. If you are a detail-oriented problem-solver who enjoys technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration, this role offers a unique opportunity to impact product safety and quality at scale. location: Leonia, New Jersey job type: Contract salary: $20.00 - 22.33 per hour work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelors responsibilities: Sample & Lifecycle Management: Orchestrate the routine submission and processing of samples (raw materials, bulk, and special R&D samples) to QC laboratories, ensuring all electronic system transactions are completed for continuous material release. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the lab and internal/external departments; provide daily and weekly status updates to Management and R&D regarding testing timelines and consumer complaint investigations. Technical Documentation: Review and draft Certificates of Analysis (CoA), maintain laboratory log spreadsheets, and create reports for quality data trending to ensure audit readiness. Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to Food Safety standards, including ISO 17025, GLP, and QMS principles, while supporting the facility during annual quality audits. Operational Support: Manage laboratory logistics by creating Purchase Orders for supplies and managing invoices/receipts through SAP and other electronic platforms. Continuous Improvement: Provide technical support and training to the Quality Coordinator group regarding testing requirements; lead initiatives to improve team workflows and laboratory efficiency. Cross-Functional Learning: Partner with senior scientific personnel to troubleshoot analytical issues and stay current on new product specifications and testing methods. qualifications: Required: 1-3 years of experience in a regulated laboratory, quality control, or food manufacturing environment. Proficiency in computer systems including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with ERP/Data systems (e.g., SAP, AS400, or SharePoint). Strong foundational knowledge of Chemistry and Microbiology terminology and documentation. Excellent mathematical and basic statistical skills. Ability to work on-site in Leonia, NJ (8:00am - 4:30pm) and handle physical requirements, including lifting up to 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally. Comfort working in an environment exposed to common food allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, wheat, etc.). Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical field. Direct experience with ISO 17025 or Global Laboratory Practices (GLP). Previous experience in a high-volume food testing or consumer goods laboratory.
