job summary: A Test Technician is needed for a leader in power and automation technologies in the New Berlin, WI area. This job supports engineering teams by performing product testing, troubleshooting, safety and certification procedures, and maintaining lab equipment and documentation in compliance with industry standards like UL, CSA, and IEC. location: New Berlin, Wisconsin job type: Contract salary: $25.51 - 35.71 per hour work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Associates responsibilities: Assist design engineers in evaluating components, prototype assemblies, and product validation tests.Use and maintain test specifications for products and prototypes.Interpret test results to verify performance meets requirements.Prepare and present test reports; maintain detailed records.Perform safety and EMC certification tests (UL, CSA, IEC standards).Travel domestically and internationally to third-party test facilities.Construct mechanical test setups and perform electrical wiring based on engineer specifications.Troubleshoot and repair electronic/electrical circuits using schematic drawings.Solder surface mount components (sizes: 1206, 0805, 0603, 0402).Operate test equipment (e.g., DMMs, ammeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, thermometers, LabVIEW).Assist in ISO 17025 audits for UL and SGS accreditations.Monitor and upgrade lab equipment to meet evolving test requirements.Manage procurement of lab supplies and equipment.Maintain instrument calibration records (electrical and dimensional).Coordinate repair or replacement of equipment as needed.Follow all safety regulations, work rules, and procedures.Update lab safety policies and maintain safety documentation (e.g., MSDS, Job Safety Analysis, accident reports).Participate in lab safety committees and monthly safety inspections.Maintain lab cleanliness and organization. Education: Associate degree in engineering plus 5+ years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 2+ years of related experience Complexity of Tasks: Requires understanding of standard engineering principles and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) design.Proficient use of lab test equipment for accurate measurements and result interpretation.
