job summary: A major electric utility service provider is seeking a Contract Environmental Compliance Specialist for a long-term role supporting construction projects across Georgia. You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations during the construction of high-voltage substations and transmission lines. This includes reviewing and implementing stormwater pollution prevention plans, inspecting construction sites for compliance, and coordinating with environmental and construction teams. Ideal for professionals with experience in environmental permitting and regulations such as the Clean Water Act, wetland and stream impact mitigation, and erosion control measures. This is a long-term contract with competitive pay and mileage reimbursement for fieldwork. location: TUCKER, Georgia job type: Contract salary: $30 - 35 per hour work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Support environmental compliance on active construction sites for substations and high-voltage transmission lines. Review and implement Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and erosion/sediment control plans. Conduct on-site environmental inspections to ensure construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Coordinate with engineers, construction inspectors, and environmental staff to address compliance issues. Interpret construction drawings and civil site plans with a focus on protecting nearby water resources like streams and wetlands. Assist with environmental permitting related to wetland and waterbody impacts (Section 404 of the Clean Water Act). Monitor and report on environmental risks, regulatory changes, and mitigation strategies. Respond to environmental incidents (e.g., spills) to help reduce potential violations or impacts. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Civil Engineering, Forestry, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience supporting environmental compliance for infrastructure or construction projects. Familiarity with the Clean Water Act, stormwater management regulations, and erosion control best practices. Experience conducting site inspections, reading civil site plans, and coordinating with field teams. Georgia NPDES Level 1B Certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months). Certifications such as CPESC or NPDES Level 2 Plan Reviewer are a plus and may offset experience requirements. Proficiency with tools like ArcGIS or AutoCAD is a plus.
