The Role: Join the nation’s leader in waterworks and fire protection infrastructure. We are seeking a skilled MIG Welder/Fabricator for our Tampa facility to produce high-pressure piping systems and custom fire protection assemblies. Key Responsibilities: Precision Welding: Execute high-quality MIG (GMAW) welds on steel and ductile iron pipe. Fabrication: Read blueprints/job sheets to cut, fit, and align flanges, outlets, and couplings. Quality Assurance: Ensure all fabrications meet strict NFPA and safety standards; perform leak/pressure testing. Efficiency: Operate pipe threaders, groovers, and overhead cranes safely. Requirements: 2+ years of MIG welding experience (Pipe/Pressure vessel preferred). Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools. Physical stamina for a fast-paced industrial shop environment. Must pass a shop weld test. salary: $19 - $21 per hourshift: Firstwork hours: 6 AM - 2:30 PMeducation: High SchoolResponsibilities Custom Pipe Fabrication: You will weld various fittings, flanges, and joints to different sizes of steel and ductile iron pipe. This is often "code welding" for high-pressure systems. Blueprint & CAD Interpretation: You must read application job sheets and technical drawings to calculate lengths, angles, and fit-up requirements accurately. Semi-Automatic Welding: Much of the work involves operating, calibrating, and maintaining semi-automatic welding machines (GMAW/MIG) to ensure consistent, high-volume production. Quality Control (Zero Defect): You are responsible for analyzing your own welds for porosity, slag, or discontinuities. Every weld must be visibly stamped or marked with your certified welder ID. Material Handling: You’ll use manipulators and positioners to handle heavy piping (often 50+ lbs) and ensure perfect alignment before the final pass.
