This is a critical, hands-on role for a professional with deep experience in the legal industry who can manage the full spectrum of core accounting functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for complex trust reconciliations, multi-state payroll, and the full month-end close, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the firm's finances. Month-End Close: Manage the full month-end close process from start to finish, including preparing and posting all journal entries, managing accruals, and performing detailed variance analysis on financial statements. Payroll Processing: Process complex, multi-state payroll for all firm staff and contract attorneys, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with all relevant tax jurisdictions. Lease Accounting: Manage and maintain all accounting for firmwide property and equipment leases across all office locations, ensuring compliance with GAAP (e.g., ASC 842). Auditing & Reconciliation: Conduct audits of accounts payable (AP) processes and take ownership of reconciling all corporate credit card accounts on a monthly basis. Compliance & Controls: Ensure all accounting processes and internal controls are in strict accordance with GAAP and firm policies, maintaining a strong control environment (SOX compliance experience is a plus). Staff Training: Develop and conduct the accounting orientation and systems training for all new firm employees, ensuring they understand financial procedures (e.g., expense reporting, time entry).
