job summary: Director, Accounting & Finance A Wash DC based organization whose focus is to champion policies that will transform the U.S. power grid to a low-cost, reliable, and renewable power system seeks a Director, Accounting & Finance. The person maintains accurate accounting in compliance with US GAAP and proper financial documentation. Responsible for the accurate and timely monthly and annual financial reporting. Oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and/or other accounting functions and ensures proper internal controls are followed. Manages the relationship with the auditors and proactively keeps appropriate documentation to anticipate to their requests. This position plays a key role supporting the VP of Finance on the management of operating cashflow position and investment activities. location: Washington, District Of Columbia job type: Permanent salary: $130,000 - 150,000 per year work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelor's degree experience: 6 Years responsibilities: Manage and develop team of accounting professionals. Responsible for the monthly and annual financial close, including the preparation of the association's financial statements, in compliance with US GAAP, official guidelines and requirements. Ensures proper internal controls are followed and recommends process changes to improve efficiency and/ or address risk. Ensures accounts are timely and properly reconciled. Oversee the overall Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and employee reimbursements/American Express account process. Manages the relationship with the audit firm and is responsible for the timely completion of the annual audit. Supports the VP of Finance on the monthly management of operating cashflow and investments activities. Responsible for providing regular aging reports and insights to the Membership team to facilitate the monitoring and timely collection of funds due. Tracks directed funds and grants, providing timely quarterly updates to program leads. Oversights all accounting related to the PAC as well as quarterly and yearly reports for the FEC. Integral to the performance of analytics; running financial statements and performing flux analysis. Supports the Finance arm of the group on the actuals to budget analysis and executive reporting. Oversees the processing of Forms 1099 and other miscellaneous year end activities. Work with audit firm on completing the filing of Form 990 to the IRS and DC Personal Property and Franchise tax returns. Perform other duties as assigned. qualifications: A Bachelor degree in business, accounting or equivalent. 4+ years of relevant experience required. CPA certification. Post-graduate work a plus. Knowledge of Great Plains and FRX reporting strongly desired. Experience using association management systems (e.g. IMIS, Protech) a big plus. Must be proficient in using Excel and other Microsoft Office Software. This position sits in Wash DC and operates on a flexible, hybrid work schedule. Annual salary is $130,000 - 150,000 depending upon experience.
