The client, a leading distribution center in Texas, was struggling to attract and retain talent in a highly competitive labor market. Worse, daily fluctuations in attendance were not only decreasing productivity but resulting in unplanned overtime — and placing significant strain on both employee morale and the bottom line


Randstad took a three-step approach to design and implement a scheduling solution:

  • provided in-depth analysis around the benefits to morale and cost of the implementation of lean staffing methodologies, to which our client agreed
  • partnering with managers and supervisors to understand logistics challenges
  • carrying out a comprehensive study to determine optimal scheduling formats to accommodate workloads

With all of the pieces in place, Randstad began rolling-out our Relevate Schedule workforce planning technology, which:

  • enabled the client’s site team to create customized talent-friendly scheduling based on workforce availability
  • significantly enhanced the client’s communication capabilities — for instance, by enabling entire departments to coordinate scheduling demands


The client has seen gains across the board since the introduction of Randstad’s flex workforce scheduling solution. Specifically, partnering with Randstad and adopting Relevate Schedule workforce planning technology has enabled the client to:

  • decrease turnover by more than 40 percent
  • reduce overtime by more than 50 percent
  • improve previous attendance variance by more than 10 percent
  • achieve faster cycle completion — 48 weeks compared to 52 weeks in 2016
  • save $100K plus year-over-year
