We are seeking a highly skilled Interim Controller to lead the critical transition of our accounting operations from an external third-party provider to a fully internal function. This is a high-impact, 12-16 week engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking over the General Ledger, refining workflows within our ERP, and ensuring a seamless handoff to a permanent team. responsibilities:
- Function In-Sourcing: Lead the migration of all accounting data, schedules, and processes from the external firm to the internal team.
- ERP Optimization: Refine and stabilize the use of [Sage Intacct / Acumatica], ensuring the chart of accounts, dimensions, and reporting modules are optimized for Private Equity reporting requirements.
- Process Engineering: Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for month-end close, AP/AR, payroll, and treasury management.
- Financial Reporting: Produce timely and accurate monthly board packages, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements, tailored to PE-sponsor expectations.
- Audit & Compliance: Ensure all historical data is reconciled and "audit-ready" during the transition phase.
- Knowledge Transfer: Document all internal workflows and assist in the onboarding/training of the permanent Controller or accounting staff.
qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years as a Controller or VP of Finance.
- Sage or other mid-tier ERP experience is preferred
- Previous experience working within a Private Equity-backed portfolio company is highly preferred. You must understand the urgency and rigor of PE reporting cycles.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and the ability to build robust financial models and reports from scratch.
- A "builder" mentality. You enjoy setting up systems and cleaning up data rather than just maintaining the status quo.
