SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Sample and buffer preparation in support of analytical testing of small organic molecules, method development, and product design for new and custom products and other innovation projects. Work with senior team members and collaborate across departments on assigned projects.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Support method and product development and other assigned projects. Work closely with senior team members on multiple aspects of product development with a primary focus on gravimetric preparation of samples and buffers for analytical tests. Activities are aligned with corporate innovation goals, ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034.

Essential Job Functions:
- Undertake assigned projects including sample preparation, formulation assessment, stability studies, writing of reports and test specifications.
- Understand and incorporate regulatory, customer, and quality system requirements in product development.
- Collaborate and work with the standards and analytical departments in manufacture of new products.
- Take responsibility for assigned tasks and the risks and decisions necessary to execute the project, using reasonable judgment, and in consultation with the project team.
- Support equipment qualifications and maintenance/troubleshooting of analytical systems as assigned.
- Understand and identify critical quality, safety and delivery requirements.
- Work with team and other departments to implement validation and tech transfer requirements.
- Provide timely updates and communicate to management and the project team the status of assigned tasks and schedule as the project progresses in detail.
- Other projects as assigned to support innovation and process improvements.
- Preferred Technical Expertise:
- Gravimetric preparation, small weighing accuracy and precision, solubility evaluation, formulation study design.
- Pharmaceutical QC analytical experience
- Operation of chromatographic instrumentation including HPLC, GC, and various chromatographic detectors including UV-Vis, RI, MS, ELSD, ECD, FID and others.
- Comprehension of secondary/additional quantitation and qualification techniques (KF, Sulfated Ash, LOD, FTIR, Titration, NMR, and microbiological assay).
- IQ, OQ, PQ, and validation of analytical instruments.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelors degree with 2+ years, Masters degree with 0+ years, or associates with 5+ years relevant experience in chemistry, biochemistry or other related scientific discipline.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Critical thinking ability, and in-depth knowledge and experience in relevant subject matter field in the area of expertise (e.g. organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, process chemistry)
- Ability to understand and interpret analytical methods and results.
- Ability to understand the scientific rationale and customer requirements for projects.
- Ability to critically review project design vs. safety, quality and technical requirements.
- Excellent verbal and technical writing skills. Ability to write procedures, reports and scientific publications.
- Ability to utilize a variety of software tools involving databases, spreadsheets and project scheduling.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work and time to meet short and long-term objectives.
- Ability to manage changing priorities to meet customer, and corporate requirements.
- Ability to function in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to collaborate with peers and managers to meet deliverables.
- Ability to lead, coordinate and build project teams.
- Understand departmental, site and company processes and goals.
