Large utility is looking for a GIS Analyst in Lansing, MI. This onsite GIS Analyst role requires a Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related field, and involves using ArcGIS Pro and ESRI software to interpret CAD designs, topographic surveys, and field data to produce GIS maps and standardized deliverables, with skills in GPS principles, construction drawing interpretation, Microsoft Office, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. responsibilities:
- Part of the Distribution Engineering Services (DES) Department.
- DES supports gas distribution construction projects by managing GIS data from planning to records development.
- Collects and maintains high-accuracy GIS data on newly installed gas infrastructure across the service territory.
- Interpret CAD designs and topographic surveys to generate ArcGIS web maps and populate the DES GIS portal.
- Interpret GIS field data using ArcGIS Pro.
- Package standardized GIS deliverables for various internal departments.
- Document standard work instructions for GIS applications and workflow processes.
- Proficient in ESRI GIS software (including field mobility apps) and ArcGIS Pro.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- strong understanding of GIS concepts and GPS principles.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated, logical thinker, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Willingness and ability to learn new systems and procedures.
