Large utility is looking for a GIS Technician in Royal Oak, MI. This position involves entering and verifying gas service data in GIS and SAP systems, requiring knowledge of ArcGIS, Microsoft Office tools, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and at least a high school diploma, with preferred experience in customer service, utility records, or engineering support. responsibilities:
- Enter gas service record information into GIS systems using redlined field designs and SAP Work Management System (WMS) data.
- Verify the quality and accuracy of gas service data in GIS and SAP WMS.
- Update GIS data and attributes as needed.
- Check graphic designs and data fields to ensure they meet specifications.
- Collaborate with team members and customers to resolve data or design issues.
- Ensure production goals and deadlines are met.
- Correct data attributes and asset locations for gas distribution when necessary.
- Knowledge of GIS systems, especially ESRI ArcGIS.
- Understanding of utilities or gas field concepts and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and other standard tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines.
- Capacity to work effectively in a virtual/remote environment.
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills and responsibilities.
- Experience with SAP or other Work Management Systems.
- strong customer service skills.
- Background in utility gas service records or engineering work.
