An Engineering Technician is needed for an American defense, aviation, information technology, and biomedical research company in the Houston, TX area. This role supports electric distribution design through drafting, data collection, and documentation using CAD and GIS tools and a strong interest in utility engineering with willingness to work in both field and office settings.

responsibilities:
- Prepare and edit electric distribution drawings using field data and engineer input.
- Assist in design work using AutoCAD, GIS, and proprietary tools.
- Perform basic field data collection (e.g., pole measurements, GPS logging, photos).
- Update project databases and support drawing revisions.
- Assemble permit packages and easement documentation.
- Conduct basic pole loading analysis (training provided).
- Complete initial self-checks before formal quality reviews.
- AutoCAD, AUD, GIS.
- Google Earth.
- Pole loading tools (O-Calc, Pole foreman).
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Proprietary data collection and design platforms (training provided).
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years of technical, drafting, or construction support experience.
