A Quality Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Washington, IL (outside of Peoria). This hands-on quality engineering role focuses on testing, analyzing, and improving machine systems through close collaboration with design and validation teams, requiring strong mechanical insight and teamwork.

responsibilities:
- Research and test design, function, and maintenance of products, equipment, and systems.
- Develop and implement quality standards and sampling procedures.
- Create forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Interpret blueprints and evaluate product integrity against standards.
- Plan, set up, and execute tests on machine systems.
- Analyze test data and compile reports with improvement recommendations.
- Support experienced engineers by overseeing test setups and executions.
- Attend teleconferences with design teams for planning and documentation.
- Perform post-test analysis and report findings.
- Collaborate with Product Validation and Design Engineers.
- Communicate test results and feedback to Product Design teams.
- strong understanding of mechanical systems and dynamics.
- Experience with instrumentation (microphones, transducers, accelerometers).
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
- Use of hand tools for assembly/disassembly.
- High initiative and strong communication.
- Team-oriented and capable of performing physical tasks (e.g., climbing machinery, wrenching).
- BS degree in Engineering (Ag or Mechanical) with exposure to NVH/Acoustics.
- 4-7 years of relevant experience.
