A Mechatronics Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Hickory, NC area. This role leads the design, development, and integration of complex mechatronic and automation systems to enhance manufacturing processes, requiring deep technical expertise and strong cross-functional collaboration.

responsibilities:
- Design and implement mechatronic systems for automation and manufacturing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements and plan projects.
- Develop control algorithms, PLC programming, and HMI design.
- Integrate sensors, actuators, control systems, and industrial robotics.
- Analyze system data, troubleshoot, and optimize performance.
- Perform system modeling, simulation, and data analysis to validate designs.
- Provide technical support and training to manufacturing teams.
- Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and documentation.
- Mechatronic system design and implementation.
- PLC, HMI, SCADA programming and automation control tech.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Experience with PID controllers, feedback systems, and sensor integration.
- Electrical systems knowledge, troubleshooting, and vision systems experience.
- Embedded systems and microcontroller programming.
- strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (focus on automation and control systems).
- Minimum 5 years' industry experience.
