Leading engineering firm in Wallingford, CT is looking to add an Assistant Purchaser to a growing team. The person supports the procurement needs and expediting of deliverables for active projects through the project lifecycle from the development of Request for Proposal (RFP) to approved Purchase Order (PO) through field receipt of materials & services and closeout of the project. This role will assist with a utility client program with a heavy focus in material coordination and tracking with opportunity for growth in procurement and project management functions. Experience with procurement software, PowerBI, Microsoft Forms, AI tools preferred.

responsibilities:
- Assist in major materials or services RFP Package preparation including potential development of Pricing Forms, consolidated Scope of Work, Instructions to Bidders, etc.
- Assist with or manage minor material RFPs including soliciting quotes, leveling and making recommendations to purchase
- Assist with portfolio level demand planning and forecasting for materials & subcontracted services
- Conduct detailed analysis of various purchasing items including past orders, spend with suppliers, issues or anomalies, process adherence. With analytical mindset, deduce trends or potential improvements based on data available
- Assist in preparation of Key Performance Indicator reports for quarterly Supplier meetings
- Assist in the requisition, review & approval, expediting & delivery and return of all materials required for a set of projects
- Review industry lead times with need dates & make recommendations to Project Team and Scheduling Team for purchase dates
- Expedite supplier's production schedule and monitor schedules to ensure milestones are being met
- Update material status reports and other reports related to procurement required by the project team
- Participate in Project Status meetings and concisely communicate material updates to project team including Project Manager, Engineering, Field Superintendents, Cost Analysts & Project Scheduler
- Notify project team of potential fabrication or shipment delays
- Confirm supplier provides timely transportation and lifting plans and communicate these plans to the jobsite
- Assist with scheduling deliveries at multiple sites
- Assist the site in identifying and reporting discrepancies to the supplier
- Assist in obtaining final documentation to facilitate completion of payment milestones
