A Buyer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Fairport, NY area. This role is responsible for ensuring timely, cost-effective procurement and supply chain optimization through strategic sourcing, supplier management, and inventory control within a global manufacturing environment.

responsibilities:
- Support development and deployment of Global Supply Management (GSM) strategies.
- Update contribution metrics tied to cost reduction portfolios.
- Negotiate with suppliers and administer contracts.
- Manage supplier relationships, including audits.
- Draft and maintain contractual documents (e.g., NDAs, supply/pricing agreements).
- Assist in commodity reviews and gathering supply intelligence.
- Oversee inventory management and storeroom operations (as applicable).
- Serve as GSM liaison between plants, especially with materials and quality.
- Recommend and help implement improved purchasing and supply practices.
- Resolve invoice-related issues via coordination with RTP.
- Participate in cross-functional teams focused on cost reduction and process improvements.
- Ensure IP protection and environmental compliance.
- Supply chain and commodity knowledge.

- Bachelor's degree preferred (technical field ideal).
- Associate's degree minimum with experience.
- Buyer experience in a plant or corporate setting.
- Hands-on purchasing (ordering, MRP familiarity, stakeholder communication).
- SAP experience required.
- Cross-functional/matrix team involvement.
- Background in manufacturing, planning, quality, or supply chain.
- Knowledge of GSM systems/processes.
- Exposure to multiple divisions/technologies.
- Global manufacturing or business experience.
- Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt, C.P.M., CPSM, or APICS certification.
