An Engineer is needed for a utility holding company in the Minneapolis, MN area. This role is for an experienced Engineer to join a nuclear Secondary License Renewal team, where they will be responsible for designing, testing, and evaluating systems while ensuring vendor compliance and contributing to ongoing projects, requiring a deep understanding of nuclear operations and specific technical skills.

responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, modeling, development, and testing of machinery, structures, or systems.
- Applies standard engineering principles to develop functional requirements.
- Creates simulations and prototypes to evaluate and test designs; evaluates design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
- Monitors product quality, controls process efficiency, and investigates failures to recommend improvements.
- Works with external vendors (e.g., Westinghouse), verifies adequacy of their work, and ensures compliance with site procedures and requirements.
- Sources information, reviews documents, and communicates with subject matter experts to support tasks.
- Contributes to the Secondary License Renewal (SLR) team, which is expanding and needs support for the Prairie Island and Monticello projects.
- Familiarity with SAP, various file-sharing software, P6, and UKG/Workday is essential.
- Attention to detail, willingness to ask questions, humility, strong relationship skills, and experience in cross-functional teams.
- An engineering degree (mechanical, civil, or electrical) is required.
- 8-12 years of experience in the nuclear energy sector, with a focus on system implementation and understanding.
- Must have experience with nuclear power and specific technologies, including plant operations, materials of construction, and past licensing experience.
- Experience with systems like Fire Protection and understanding of ASME in-service testing and code compliance is beneficial.
