A Pipe Designer is needed for a multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, whose areas of business include pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare products, agricultural chemicals, seeds and biotechnology products in the Kansas City, MO area. This Pipe Designer role requires strong skills in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Navisworks, and field experience in a chemical plant to create and maintain piping and instrumentation drawings and models for safety and process improvements.

responsibilities:
- Provide services and projects to improve safety and chemical processes.
- Create drawings for maintenance purposes, including P&IDs, Layouts, 3D Models, and Piping Isometrics.
- Create P&IDs from process engineer notes using AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
- Verify P&IDs against Process Flow Diagrams, confirm pipe specifications, and add line and tie-in numbers.
- Create and optimize layouts for new equipment with a focus on access and ergonomics.Update scaled drawings and create 2D layouts from 3D models using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Survey field conditions and optimize piping routes using engineering best practices.
- Model piping and create isometrics using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Build 3D models to produce extracted isometrics.
- Perform Navisworks model reviews to fine-tune designs.
- Use 3D laser scans to check for interference clashes.
- strong understanding of pipe specifications and materials.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Navisworks.
- Fieldwork experience in an active chemical plant, including gathering dimensions and verifying P&IDs.
- strong teamwork and social skills to collaborate with different disciplines and plant personnel.
- Experience working in a manufacturing plant with significant piping.
- Ability to customize AutoCAD components.
- Experience with AutoCAD Vault (ProjectWise is also acceptable).
- Experience with Bluebeam, Leica software, and BIM360.
- Minimum two years of college or
- A High school diploma with five years of pipe design experience.
