A Survey Technician is needed for a utility holding company in the Minneapolis, MN area. This is a field-based, independent survey crew chief role responsible for conducting various land surveys for utility projects, requiring a strong technical background in surveying equipment and the ability to travel and work overtime.

responsibilities:
- Conducting field surveys and gathering accurate data points.
- Acting as a liaison between the office and the field for Engineering, Design, and Survey teams.
- Recording survey data using electronic data collectors.
- Researching land records and resolving field issues.
- Analyzing data for integrity and assisting with final documents/drawings.
- Communicating with various external parties (e.g., private survey companies, government agencies, and the public).
- Staying current on new survey technologies and procedures.
- Proficiency with survey GPS, laser scanners, and Trimble equipment.
- strong ability to work independently, problem-solve, and manage longer work days and travel.
- A two-year surveying tech or civil engineering technician background is preferred, but not required if the candidate has sufficient experience.
- A minimum of 4-5 years of quality experience, with an ideal candidate having 10 years.
