An Engineering Technician is needed for an American multinational healthcare company that primarily focuses on products to treat kidney disease, and other chronic and acute medical conditions, in the Round lake, IL area. This role is for an electrical lab technician with 3+ years of soldering experience and 1+ years of electronics testing, who will perform soldering, rework, and testing on electromechanical medical devices using a variety of test equipment while also demonstrating strong organizational, record-keeping, and communication skills.

responsibilities:
- R&D lab soldering, rework, and testing for electromechanical medical devices.
- Serve as the primary soldering and rework expert in the electrical lab, with extensive experience in hand-soldering fine-pitch SMT components (as small as 0201 and 0.5mm pitch packages) and BGA rework using hot air.
- Set up, perform, and monitor electronic testing with minimal guidance.
- Execute electrical test procedures at the system and board levels.
- Use a variety of test equipment, including DMMs, DC power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Monitor automated tests and report on their status with limited data analysis.
- Potentially write test cases, depending on the candidate's skills.
- Collaborate with lab staff and engineers to maintain an organized lab.
- Report to the engineering manager, lab supervisor, and test engineers.
- Follow directions for safe work procedures, equipment use, and data recording.
- Fine-pitch surface mount soldering, reflow, and rework expertise.
- Experience using electrical test equipment and executing tests.
- strong organizational, record-keeping, and verbal/writing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic computer skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent (BS degree preferred).
- 3+ years of soldering experience with 1+ years of electronics testing experience.
