A Principal Engineer is needed for an American multinational healthcare company that primarily focuses on products to treat kidney disease, and other chronic and acute medical conditions, in the Round Lake, IL area. This principal R&D engineer role requires a Bachelor of Engineering with 5-8 years of experience in leading and/or managing technical projects, with a focus on disposable medical devices and manufacturing processes, to drive product development from design to manufacturing while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

responsibilities:
- Leads and/or manages technical projects, including scheduling, resource planning (budget and timelines), and assigning tasks to team members.
- Coordinates with various groups, including development, technical support, and the Project Management Office (PMO).
- Presents team's work to stakeholders and is responsible for finalizing reports and presentations.
- Develops new approaches to complex problems by adapting and modifying technical principles.
- Ensures the right choices are made regarding materials, design, and suppliers.
- Has a deep understanding of manufacturing processes like assembly, extrusion, and molding.
- Knowledgeable in fluid dynamics and materials.
- Supervises and coordinates a Senior Engineer and/or other team members.
- Provides guidance and leads the team through development activities to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing.
- Works to meet the product's intended use in various countries of sale.
- Carries out Design Verification and Validation in accordance with ISO Standards, CE Norms, FDA, and country-specific regulations.
- Able to work with minimal guidance.
- Can prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Designs with manufacturability in mind.
- Bachelor of Engineering (type not specific).
- 5-8yrs of experience with focus areas around leading and/or managing technical projects.
- Candidate should have experience with disposable medical devices (e.g. IV sets), manufacturing processes, and product development.
