Manufacturer in northwestern Minneapolis is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to add to their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience doing 3D modeling with sheetmetal using Solidworks. Flow simulation software experience a plus. Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred. This position is fully onsite and will focus on custom new product design. Previous R&D experience a plus.

responsibilities:
- Work closely with customers in a professional manner
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by reviewing product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, outsourced material vendors, and feedback from operators.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing designs and provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) suggestions.
- Inspect and validate outsourced parts and materials
- Previous knowledge of the manufacturing process (Shear, Press Brake, Laser/Plasma tables, Welding)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
- At least 5 years of experience doing 3D design of sheetmetal or similar using Solidworks
- Flow simulation software experience a plus
- Experience with CAM software a plus
- Proficiency with MS Office suite
