A Buyer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Fairport, NY area. This is a Buyer role focused on ensuring a high-quality, on-time, and cost-effective supply of materials and services while minimizing inventory and optimizing supplier performance.

responsibilities:
- Assists in developing and deploying Global Supply Management (GSM) strategies and plans for purchasing decisions.
- Ensures Contribution Metrics are updated and linked to cost reduction.
- Leads negotiations and Contract Administration with suppliers.
- Owns or assists with Supplier Relationship Management (including audits).
- Creates and maintains contractual documents (Supply, Pricing, NDA, etc.).
- Assists with Commodity Reviews and Supply Intelligence.
- Manages Inventory (organization, control, minimization of on-hand, slow-moving, obsolete materials; may manage storeroom).
- Acts as GSM liaison between plants (materials/quality).
- Recommends and participates in implementing changes to purchasing practices for conformance to laws, policies, and ethics.
- Main contact for RTP (Request-to-Pay) to resolve invoicing issues.
- Participates in cross-functional teams for process improvements, cost reduction, and supply chain issue resolution.
- Experience as a plant or corporate buyer.
- Hands-on Buyer experience (placing orders, MRP familiarity, stakeholder communication)/
- Experience using SAP.
- Experience in a matrix environment or cross-functional team.
- Experience in manufacturing operations, planning, quality, engineering, supply chain.
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred, Technical field a plus) or
- Associate's degree + relevant experience (Minimum).
