Looking for a Melt Shop Metallurgist to be an integral technical leader focused on driving solutions and continuous improvement across operations. You should be ready to take direct ownership of the process and product quality in a high-volume melt shop and caster environment. You will partner with the production teams, becoming a primary decision-maker in the melt and thin slab casting processes. responsibilities:
- Serve as a key technical resource, making real-time decisions impacting process efficiency and product quality
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reduce costs, and maximize efficiency
- Design and deliver technical training and communications for teammates, partners, and customers.
- Actively analyze data and apply metallurgical principles to troubleshoot production issues and optimize casting performance
- BS Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science, or similar
- Required: Minimum of 3 years of direct experience with thin slab caster operations
- Experience from a steelmaking or aluminum environment
- Preferred: Demonstrated capability to use data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Power-BI) for data-driven decision-making and process analysis
