A Principal Engineer is needed for an American multinational healthcare company that primarily focuses on products to treat kidney disease, and other chronic and acute medical conditions, in the Round Lake, IL area. This senior role requires a Graduate/Post Graduate Electrical Engineer with a background in medical devices to lead the design and development of analog and digital microcontroller-based circuits for infusion systems, utilizing skills in Altium, LabVIEW, circuit analysis, and testing to meet standards like IEC 60601 and ensure successful product transition to manufacturing.

responsibilities:
- Lead the development of creative solutions for the design of new and existing infusion system products.
- Define design requirements/hardware specifications, contribute to electronic system architectures, lead circuit creation, analyze circuits (calculation/simulation), and ensure successful electrical integration with mechanical/software elements.
- Develop, modify, and approve electrical design documentation, specifications, and drawings; complete system/sub-system design deliverables.
- Define appropriate test methods, direct circuit assembly layout (for emissions/immunity/DFM), execute protocols, and test to validate safety/effectiveness.
- Supervise/coordinate an engineer and/or technicians, lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical aspects; resolve competing constraints across cross-functional teams (e.g., manufacturing, regulatory).
- Transition products to manufacturing; knowledge/experience with CAD systems for PCB schematic design and layout (Altium Designer preferred) and data acquisition software (LabVIEW).
- Knowledge of standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 61010, UL, ANSI, and ASTM.
- Experience testing electronic devices to meet immunity and emissions requirements.
- Create and communicate design/test plans, tasks, deliverables, and status,
- Manage time/resources to meet milestones; develop/maintain effective relationship with partners.
- Graduate or Post Graduate in Electrical or Electronics or related Engineering and
- 8 to12 years of experience.
- Prior experience in infusion pump domain is a plus.
