A Machinist is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Savannah, GA area. This role involves programming parts, primarily using required Mastercam experience, and operating both CNC and manual machines (like Lathes and Mills) to fabricate and assemble precision metal components according to blueprints and strict quality and safety standards.

responsibilities:
- Produce machine parts by programming, assembling, and operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) or manual machines.
- Types of machines include Lathes, Mills, Grinders, and other specialized CNC and manual machines.
- Mastercam experience (programming) is REQUIRED.
- Operate CNC and Lathe machines (Previous experience on operating CNC and/or Lathe is a must).
- Work with metal tubes, rods, and various hand tools.
- Fabricate parts per blueprint and Customer requirements.
- Interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, design sketches.
- Understand Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances (GD&T) for operation, material, and dimensional requirements.
- Assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub-units or complete units using operating mechanical equipment.
- Take measurements of material and select appropriate machines for the process.
- Perform machining setups and make adjustments as required.
- Conduct inspections of work produced (Inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications).
- Check SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging, and measurements.
- Keep records and maintain quality/safety standards.
- Follow appropriate procedures to promote safety.
- Must be able to wear required PPE (Steel toe boots/safety glasses).
- Attention to detail.
- Basic math.
- Previous experience of using computers.
- Reading tape measures/calipers.
- No limitations on ability to wear PPE.
- Responsible for leaving the work area well organized at the end of the shift.
- Work from written instructions and plans.
