Large utility is looking for a Construction Manager in Grand Rapids, MI. The Construction Manager reports to the Manager of Electric Construction, is responsible for the on-site management of all construction phase elements (safety, scope, cost, and schedule), and requires a Bachelor's degree or applicable experience, along with skills in OSHA/MiOSHA, SAP, SESC Certification, and substation operations knowledge. responsibilities:
- Responsible for monitoring and managing safety, scope, cost, and schedule during the construction phase.
- Reports directly to the Manager of Electric Construction (MEC).
- All project team members (including contracted employees) assigned to construction report to the CM.
- Assures that project construction adheres to applicable company and industry codes and specifications.
- Oversees onsite construction and monitors project safety, scope, quality, risk, schedule, and budget.
- Reports progress daily to the MEC.
- Supervises contract inspectors and resolves issues (material, construction, scheduling conflicts).
- Ensures as-built redline drawings are submitted to Engineering.
- Accompanies high-value asset transportation.
- Performs Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC) inspections in accordance with Stormwater Management Certification protocol.
- SESC - Storm Water Management Certification.
- Knowledge of substation field operations.
- Knowledge of substation equipment operations.
- OSHA and MiOSHA knowledge.
- Proficiency in SAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Organizing.
- Planning.
- Priority Setting.
