responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of purchasing and administrative professionals to ensure procurement targets and operational goals are met
- Oversee all purchasing, planning, and inventory control activities to guarantee a reliable supply of high-quality materials at competitive prices
- Facilitate the SIOP process by collaborating with sales, production, and engineering to align procurement strategies with future demand and the master production schedule
- Act as the primary buyer/planner for high-complexity or long-lead-time items, managing the end-to-end process from requisition to delivery
- Manage the full supplier lifecycle, including rigorous selection, bid evaluation, price negotiation, and ongoing relationship management to resolve service or quality issues
- Utilize ERP systems to monitor inventory levels, compare open orders against demand, and determine optimal safety stock and reorder quantities
- Analyze global market trends and commodity fluctuations (such as steel and metals) to make informed, cost-effective buying decisions
- Review and authorize purchasing recommendations, price increases, and bulk buy opportunities within established authority limits
- Proactively address material shortages and maintain accurate inventory records to prevent production delays
- Establish and update pricing data within the ERP system to ensure financial accuracy and budget alignment
