A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a company that transports, distributes and generates energy, with diversified assets that include a balance between crude oil and natural gas in the Houston, TX area. This role involves overseeing the design and execution of Liquids Pump station capital projects by managing third-party engineering firms to ensure strict adherence to industry regulations, corporate standards, budgets, and schedules.

responsibilities:
- Ensure pump station facilities are designed in accordance with regulations, industry codes, and corporate standards
- Define the scope, schedule, and budget for design and materials for facility projects
- Manage the execution of design deliverables by third-party engineering firms
- Review and approve design deliverables such as drawings, technical reports, and material listing sheets
- Participate in design review meetings with engineering firms and internal teams
- Discuss scope, design, expected performance, and constructability issues during reviews
- Review vendor material quotations and prepare technical evaluations
- Recommend equipment selections based on technical merit, price, and delivery
- Review lessons learned from past projects and incorporate recommendations into future designs
- Identify and communicate new lessons learned and quality incidents
- Support department initiatives as required
- Interact weekly with the Project Manager to provide updates on progress, cost, schedule, and risk
- Interact daily with the Supervisor of Facilities Project Engineering to address issues
- Interact weekly with the Manager of Facilities Project Engineering to provide status updates
- Interact daily with External Engineering Firms to provide oversight on design activities
- Interact weekly with Operations to provide status updates and seek guidance on design features
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or other related Engineering field
- Minimum of 4 years of industry experience
- Capability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Ability to prioritize tasks accordingly
- Ability to solve problems using standards, modification of standards, or previous experience
- Ability to effectively communicate technical issues and impacts to technical and non-technical staff
