Systems Engineer, fully remote opportunity, with a technology startup company that has developed and patented equipment for near-isothermal gas compression used in high-pressure industrial applications and ultra-long duration energy storage. In this role, you will work primarily remote from any location in the USA to drive the commercialization of this system. You will collaborate with a global team of PhD-level experts and R&D specialists to transition innovative prototypes into market-ready industrial solutions.

responsibilities:
- Architecture and Prototype Development: Finalize the device architecture for both MVP prototypes and production versions, while directing the detailed engineering design of components for manufacturing.
- System Integration and Testing: Direct the skidding, integration, and testing of MVP units, ensuring all subsystems and components work together to maximize performance and cost-efficiency.
- Control Schema Design: Develop advanced electric motor control schemas to provide exact torque and speed profiles as driven pumps encounter varying conditions.
- Safety and Control Implementation: Drive the architecture for control and safety systems, including the design of ESD (Emergency Shutdown) philosophies and cause-and-effect matrices.
- Targeted Research and R&D: Conduct research to evaluate system options, interpret test data, and identify future R&D paths for continuous improvement of gas compression technology.
- Core Engineering Expertise: Broad familiarity with thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and hydraulics, including heat transfer, real gas behavior, and pump selection.
- Electrical and Systems Knowledge: Understanding of electric motors, motor controls, sensors, and general power engineering.
- Industrial Compliance & Standards: Practical experience with regulatory certifications such as ASME (B31.3), ATEX, and API standards (520/521) within process plant environments.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an industrial commercial business with a background in electro-mechanical systems, hydro-mechanical systems or process engineering.
- Educational Background: A required Engineering degree, with a preference for Mechanical or Electrical engineering or related variants
