A Quality Assurance Engineer for a medical devices and equipment manufacturing company is needed in the Portage, MI area. This role requires a Bachelor of Science in engineering to support manufacturing lines by monitoring defects, leading process improvement projects, and ensuring QMS compliance, while utilizing skills in technical investigation, GD&T, and statistical analysis.

responsibilities:
- Provides direct support to manufacturing lines through the development and implementation of methods for process control, improvement, testing, and inspection.
- Monitors and trends production defects to lead projects aimed at resolving top quality issues.
- Identifies, contains, and corrects nonconformances originating from the manufacturing area.
- Coaches cross functional teams on quality management system requirements related to the manufacturing facility.
- Designs and installs testing equipment when appropriate to maintain quality levels and minimize failure rates.
- Performs product testing and analysis to ensure products are free of flaws and function as designed.
- Makes technical judgements based on standard practices and previous experience.
- Maintains productive and collaborative relationships with all levels of the business from operators to marketing and sales.
- Manages projects in a timely manner while solving problems in high stress situations.
- Conducts and documents formal technical investigations.
- Bachelor of Science in any engineering discipline, with a preference for mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Entry level role requiring no prior professional experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- strong attention to detail and an eagerness to assist internal and external customers.
- Understanding and application of procedures and concepts within the engineering discipline.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis capability is highly desirable.
