A Quality Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Decatur, IL area. This hands-on role requires a degree in industrial or mechanical engineering to perform floor-level inspections, root cause analysis, and quality audits on drivetrain components within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

responsibilities:
- Inspect drivetrain components and verify assembly processes directly on the factory floor.
- Conduct audits of active assembly procedures to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Capture photographic evidence of critical parts and processes for quality documentation.
- Identify and document technical observations and production issues in a concise, detailed manner.
- Perform root cause analysis to solve manufacturing problems and prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and operations.
- Communicate observed issues clearly to the engineering team to drive corrective actions.
- Monitor production systems to optimize safety, quality, velocity, and cost.
- Foster a culture of quality through constant onsite presence and verification.
- Build and maintain a professional network across multiple internal divisions to support system-level optimizations.
