A Manufacturing Engineer is needed for a major U.S. defense contractor and industrial corporation with core manufacturing concentrations in weapons and military and commercial electronics in the Burnsville, MN area. This on-site role focuses on developing and optimizing manufacturing processes for mechanical assemblies, specifically involving welding and brazing.

responsibilities:
- Develop specific methods and detailed instructions for the manufacture and assembly of mechanical products.
- Oversee special processes including brazing, welding, potting, and additive manufacturing.
- Observe and document production builds on the shop floor to ensure process integrity.
- Identify potential fabrication problems and investigate manufacturing defects to provide corrective solutions.
- Design and develop fixturing and process updates to address recurring production issues.
- Define requirements for tools and gages and collaborate with the tool design group for development.
- Ensure all necessary tools and gages are available and correctly prescribed in process documentation.
- Establish touch labor cost targets for shop and lab activities.
- Propose engineering changes and evaluate them for feasibility, producibility, and labor impact.
- Implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of the SAP or similar Enterprise Requirements Planning system.
- Process improvement experience (Lean Manufacturing).
- Experience with additive welding processes.
- Experience with brazing processes.
- Experience with Creo engineering software.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and
- Minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
