A Cost Engineer / Cost Accountant is needed for a leading EPC and Power Service Organization, it the northwestern Providence, Rhode Island area. In this role, you will ensure successful delivery through meticulous cost tracking, change management, and financial documentation. You will serve as a key liaison between internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
The ideal candidate will possess a degree finance, accounting, or a related engineer field, supplemented by at least 2 years of cost-related experience ideally with a construction or engineering firm. Candidates with functional expertise in accounting, reconciliations, and payroll, alongside proficiency in automation databases and financial software; experience with Sage 300 is highly preferred. This role requires expert-level Excel skills for complex data analysis, exceptional multitasking abilities, and a solution-oriented approach to communication and problem-solving. This is a contract role slated to last 4+ months with the potential for long-term employment. This can work in a hybrid capacity as well. Our client is only seeking local talent at this time.

responsibilities:
- Review and respond to subcontractor change requests with data-backed recommendations; analyze project cost issues to minimize risk
- Support manifest billing accuracy, track subcontractor cash flows, and manage owner billing activities
- Perform regular financial reconciliations and support project-wide accounting functions
- Act as a professional point of contact for subcontractors and stakeholders, maintaining a solution-oriented mindset during conflict resolution
- Manage Payroll and Human Resources tasks as they relate to project staffing and labor costs
- Utilize automation databases and Excel to streamline reporting and ensure data integrity
