A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a company that transports, distributes and generates energy, with diversified assets that include a balance between crude oil and natural gas in the Duluth, MN area. This role manages external firms to ensure liquids pump station designs are technically compliant, cost-effective, and seamlessly integrated with operational requirements from scope definition through procurement.

responsibilities:
- Oversees the design of liquids pump station facilities for capital expansion and maintenance projects.
- Manages third-party engineering consultants to ensure deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule targets.
- Ensures all facility designs comply with regulatory requirements, industry codes, and corporate standards.
- Defines the specific scope, schedule, and budget for project designs and required materials.
- Reviews and approves engineering deliverables including drawings, technical reports, and material sheets.
- Leads design review meetings to address performance, scope, and constructability challenges.
- Collaborates with Project Managers, Operations, and Construction teams to incorporate project requirements.
- Conducts technical evaluations of vendor quotes for equipment such as pumps, motors, and vessels.
- Recommends material selections based on a combination of technical merit, cost, and delivery.
- Integrates lessons learned from previous projects into future design specifications.
- Monitors and communicates quality incidents and project risks to internal leadership.
- Serves as the primary daily liaison between external engineering firms and internal functional groups.
- Capable of working independently, managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks accordingly.
- Problem solve issues through use of standards, modification of standards and/or previous experience.
- Effectively communicate technical issues and impacts to other technical and non-technical staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or other related Engineering field.
- Minimum of 4 years of industry experience.
