Large utility is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor in Grand rapids, MI. This role requires a leader with at least a high school diploma and 6+ years of maintenance experience (or an Associate/Bachelor degree with fewer years) to oversee industrial equipment reliability through expert electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, staff supervision, and preventative maintenance scheduling.This is a contract position estimated to last 12 months, possible extension, possible temp to perm. responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of maintenance technicians to ensure industrial facilities and production processes run smoothly.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical equipment to resolve issues as they arise.
- Prepare performance reports for subordinates and maintain detailed time and production records.
- Develop and revise maintenance procedures and schedules in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
- Investigate machinery complaints and consult with operators to diagnose technical problems.
- Perform and oversee preventative maintenance programs for all plant machinery and equipment.
- Recommend and implement strategies to improve productivity, minimize downtime, and reduce waste.
- Schedule and assign daily tasks based on employee skill levels, workload, and machine availability.
- Train new and reassigned staff on job duties, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Manage a diverse workforce and make critical decisions during emergency situations.
- Apply working knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance functions to daily tasks.
- Ability to manage and motivate subordinates.
- Broad Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Ability to solve practical problems, to clearly communicate tasks and needs, and to train other personnel.
- Ability to analyze and to interpret data to make sound professional judgments and recommendations.
- Able to deal with a diverse workforce.
- Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
- Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, and technical manuals.
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of power plant maintenance, including a working knowledge of the operations & maintenance functions.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/electrical engineering field or related preferred or
- Associate's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering field or related and 4+ years of experience supporting maintenance activities or
- High School diploma and 6+ years of experience supporting maintenance activities.
