A Piping Designer is needed for an engineering consulting company in these Portland, OR, Phoenix, AZ, Pittsburgh, PA or Boise, ID areas. This role involves independently designing complex 3D piping systems and layouts for industrial facilities, requiring high proficiency in CAD software and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary project scopes.

responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive piping layouts, routing, and 3D model content with minimal supervision.
- Utilize software proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, or CADWorx to create designs.
- Lead equipment arrangement efforts and integrate detailed vendor data into project models.
- Produce high-quality piping plans, sections, isometrics, and detailed construction drawings.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve design clashes and model-based issues.
- Apply advanced piping principles regarding pipe sizing, routing optimization, and material specifications.
- Identify and communicate scope changes, design impacts, and constructability concerns proactively.
- Support project management with task planning, design sequencing, and person-hour estimations.
- Provide clear instructions and quality reviews for global workshare teams to ensure consistency.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, or CADWorx for piping design and modeling.
- Understanding of piping specifications, materials, equipment interfaces, and layout fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, vendor drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with general oversight while managing your assigned design tasks.
- strong communication and coordination skills within a multi discipline team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with a focus on model and drawing accuracy.
- Associate's degree in Design Technology or a related field (or equivalent practical experience of +2 years).
- 5 + years of piping design experience in industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environments.
