Our client is seeking a licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) who excels at uncovering the 'how' and 'why' behind mechanical failures. This isn't a desk job-it's a role for a forensic-minded engineer who can transition seamlessly from a complex scene investigation to a detailed technical report. We need a professional who masters the physics of a scene, maintains a flawless chain of custody, and produces work that stands up to the most rigorous legal scrutiny.

responsibilities:
- Lead forensic accident reconstruction projects from assignment through final deliverables
- Conduct scene inspections, vehicle examinations, and evidence evaluations
- Collect, document, and interpret physical evidence using modern field technologies including 3D scanning, drones, photogrammetry, and digital documentation tools
- Perform engineering analyses using accepted reconstruction methodologies, simulation tools, and analytical modeling techniques
- Integrate field data, physical evidence, and analytical results into coherent, defensible conclusions
- Prepare, review, and approve technical reports and visual exhibits for clarity, accuracy, and legal defensibility
- Present findings in client meetings, depositions, and courtroom testimony when required
- Travel regionally for investigations, meetings, and court appearances
- Deep understanding of vehicle dynamics, crash mechanics, and physics-based reconstruction principles
- Working knowledge of reconstruction methodologies, simulation tools, and analytical modeling techniques
- Knowledge of scene documentation standards, measurement techniques, and evidence preservation
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience, including accident reconstruction or forensic analysis
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Demonstrated expertise in accident reconstruction methodologies and engineering analysis
- Ability to travel and perform fieldwork involving outdoor environments and equipment handling
