An Electrical Engineer Senior is needed for a world class utility company in the Roanoke, VA, New Albany, OH, or Tulsa, OK areas. This senior-level electrical engineering role focuses on designing substation capital projects and developing comprehensive technical training programs while ensuring compliance with NESC standards and project schedules.

responsibilities:
- Develop technical training plans and content for Station Engineering, covering entry-level to advanced line engineering tasks.
- Provide physical design engineering for substation capital projects, including grounding, lightning shielding, and lighting studies.
- Prepare station configurations, layouts, and detailed functional scoping documents in collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Assist project managers in developing and maintaining engineering deliverables within Primavera P6 project schedules.
- Oversee and review design work performed by internal designers and external consulting engineering firms.
- Support field service and construction personnel to resolve technical issues during the project construction phase.
- Create project construction documents, including plan and profile drawings, material specifications, and bills of material.
- Develop design alternatives and provide cost estimates for proposed substation projects.
- Coordinate with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and contractors to secure necessary permits and project approvals.
- Monitor project expenditures and schedules, and lead bid and construction meetings.
- Prepare project construction documents including: plan and profile drawings, design drawings, engineering, material and construction specifications, project schedules and bills of material.
- Communicate effectively verbally and written to facilitate on schedule and on budget project performance.
- Develop design alternatives and cost estimates for proposed projects.
- Work effectively with internal and external customers, government and regulatory agencies and contractors to secure permits, refine design alternatives and other liaison activities to bring project to completion.
- Monitor project expenditures and schedules.
- Conduct bid and construction meetings as needed.
- Work with Project Management, Substation design, Distribution, Supply Chain and Right of Way as needed.
- A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in a program accredited by ABET.
- Has typically acquired 4-6 or more years of related engineering experience
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred.
- ABET - Engineering.
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
