A Manufacturing Engineer is needed for a technology company that designs and manufactures connectors and sensors for several industries, such as automotive, industrial equipment, data communication systems, and more, in the Hampton, VA area. This role acts as a bridge between design and production, leading the optimization of machining and tooling processes while implementing lean manufacturing standards and automation platforms to ensure high-quality product ramp-ups.

responsibilities:
- Serve as a process leader to ensure optimum quality and output for machining, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
- Apply expert knowledge in mold tooling, die tooling, and assembly techniques to optimize production.
- Standardize manufacturing processes across business unit plants to meet TEOA (TE Operational Excellence) requirements.
- Roll out Center of Excellence (CoE) standards and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDPs) across multiple facilities.
- Advise plants on tool and machine duplications, corrections, and continuous improvements.
- Design and develop manufacturing and automation platforms for new product development and existing product optimization.
- Utilize company systems including SAP, TLM, and CAD for technical documentation and process management.
- Support Product Development in selecting tools and manufacturing concepts based on volume and quality requirements.
- Act as the primary technical interface between the engineering and manufacturing departments.
- Basic knowledge of technical tools specific to the job function: e.g. CAD, CAE, industrial or quality engineering tools.
- Basic awareness of general engineering tools (LEAN or 6-sigma) such as DoE, FMEA, QFD, etc.
