A Mechanical Drafting/CAD Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Concord, NC area. This role is focused on creating and managing 3D models and 2D technical drawings for industrial process equipment and will use Autodesk Inventor to standardize designs, perform onsite measurements, and manage the engineering change process for global manufacturing facilities.

responsibilities:
- Lead drafting activities for custom process equipment used in global optical fiber and cable manufacturing.
- Create and manage electronic drawing files using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault.
- Transform preliminary mechanical packages into standardized equipment configurations and 3D models.
- Develop detailed drawings for sheet metal, weldments, assemblies, and individual components.
- Design mounting systems and layouts for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic hardware.
- Conduct onsite field verifications to document existing systems and capture physical measurements.
- Process drawing releases and revisions through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) system.
- Ensure all technical documentation complies with ASME/ANSI standards and company safety regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate data into final drawing sets.
- Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards.
- General Windows-based computer skills.
- Proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault software.
- Able to adapt to company standards and guidelines.

- A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology degree.
- A.O.S. Drafting/CAD degree.

- Candidates without degrees must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting.
- Minimum of 2 years professional experience in the mechanical drafting field.
