responsibilities:
- Act as the lead or support mechanical project engineer for natural gas compressor station modifications and new construction.
- Represent the owner's interests by overseeing engineering aspects to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, scope, quality, and budget adherence.
- Coordinate technical work between external engineers of record, material suppliers, and construction contractors.
- Develop and enforce engineering, equipment, and construction specifications for the project lifecycle.
- Independently evaluate and apply engineering theory and techniques to moderately complex assignments.
- Review designs for constructability and compliance with industry codes including ASME, API, and federal safety standards.
- Support project managers by facilitating procurement of engineered materials and professional services.
- Develop contract documents and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for consulting and construction activities.
- Experience in the design, construction, or operation of natural gas compressor station equipment Experience in reviewing designs to assure compliance with engineering design, applicable codes, constructability, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of: CFR 49 Part 192 Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by Pipeline (Minimum Federal Safety Standards), and/or Michigan Gas Safety Standards Guide (MGSS), Knowledge of ASME Codes & Standards e.g., ASME B31.8, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, ASME B16.5/16.47, ASME BPVC, etc.
- API Specifications & Standards e.g., API 5L, API 6D, API 1104, etc.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited).
- 5+ years of applied ABET engineering experience.
