A Quality Engineer is needed for a leader in power and automation technologies in the Richmond, VA area. This role requires an engineering degree and 2+ years of experience to manage the quality lifecycle of critical power equipment by applying advanced root cause analysis and Lean methodologies to reduce defects and ensure regulatory compliance.

responsibilities:
- Perform complex quality assurance assignments for Power Distribution Units (PDU), Static Transfer Switches (STS), and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
- Develop and maintain Quality Plans, Control Plans, and inspection checklists while defining Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters.
- Establish and manage Q-gates throughout the manufacturing process to ensure product accuracy and reliability.
- Monitor and analyze First Pass Yield (FPY) metrics to identify and implement production efficiency strategies.
- Lead root cause analysis on customer complaints and implement corrective actions using tools like 5Why and 8D.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams during customer audits, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and certifications (UL, CSA, ISO).
- Conduct Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities and reduce defects.
- Map manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and potential automation.
- Apply technical quality tools including FMEA, SPC, DMAIC, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and 7 QC tools.
- Proficient in quality tools like FMEA, 7 QC tools, 5S, 5Why, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, SPC, DMAIC & 8D Root cause analysis
- Familiar with key industry standards such as UL1561, NEMA ST-20, IEEE C57.12.01, IEEE C57.12.91, DOE 2016, UL891, and CSA C22.2, which enhances compliance and product reliability.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering or related field with plus
- Minimum 2 years of experience.
