Our client is seeking a Project Engineer in Marion, MI, to lead mechanical engineering efforts for natural gas compressor station modifications and new construction. This role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of experience. You will oversee external design firms and ensure all projects meet safety, regulatory, and budgetary goals through expert technical oversight.

responsibilities:
- Manage the development of detailed design documents by external Engineers of Record, ensuring all drawings and calculations comply with ASME and API industry standards.
- Develop technical specifications and lead technical bid evaluations for engineered equipment, materials, and construction contracts to ensure project requirements are met.
- Provide on-site support at compressor stations (3-5 days per week) to resolve construction issues, perform shop inspections, and oversee equipment testing and commissioning.
- Collaborate with project managers, environmental engineers, and operations personnel to align technical objectives and provide accurate cost estimating and scheduling.
- Ensure all project activities adhere to CFR 49 Part 192, Michigan Gas Safety Standards, and company-specific engineering and construction specifications.
