A Safety Specialist is needed for a leading manufacturing organization in the northern Huntsville metro area. The Safety Specialist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive suite of safety programs to ensure a secure manufacturing environment. This role focuses on proactive risk mitigation, accident investigation, and the continuous improvement of workplace safety standards across all production groups.
Candidates must demonstrate an ability to interpret and apply OSHA 1910.126 standards and possess experience with machine risk assessments and ergonomics analysis. Proficiency in managing Safety KPIs and a deep understanding of Safety Management Systems are essential for success in this position. This is a long-term contract role, and our client is only seeking local talent at this time.

responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve safety programs including HazCom, Industrial Hygiene, Fall Protection, Confined Space, and Plant PPE
- Lead accident and early symptom investigations to determine root causes and track the effectiveness of countermeasures
- Facilitate new hire safety orientation and ongoing training to foster a culture of safety awareness and compliance
- Conduct machine risk assessments and complete processes to ensure production equipment meets design safety standards
- Deploy audit strategies and conduct ergonomics process analyses to identify and correct potential floor hazards
- Monitor Safety KPIs and manage Hoshin plans, communicating major issues and status updates to the Executive Team
