A Vehicle Engineer Lead is needed for immediate direct hire role in the Augusta, GA area to lead the development of vehicle related components and systems from concept to production. This is a key yet very exciting role that will work with cross functional teams delivering components and subsystems to support consumer utility vehicles, and connected solutions.
Requirements for this role is a BSME along with 8+ years of related experience leading the design and development of vehicle components and systems, leading efforts on design feasibility as well as working in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders ensuring Design for Manufacture, (DFM).
The right person for this role will be vibrant, have a proven passion for the automotive industry and can multi-task while mixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands.

responsibilities:
- Represent Engineering on cross functional new product development teams
- Lead efforts to improve the financial impact of engineering activities on the business with focus on design feasibility
- Create Engineering Release Plan for all components, assemblies, installations, and Bills of Materials within assigned programs
- Ensure technical rigors for all projects assigned (Specifications, DFMEA, DVP, APQP, and Technical Design Reviews).
- Lead benchmarking activities & value engineering ideas
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure Design for Manufacture (DFM) and to incorporate designs into manufacturing processes
- BSME 8+ years of related experience leading the design and development of vehicle components and systems
- Experience working as an engineer in a vehicle related business is preferred
- Must be self-motivated collaborator, able to think creatively and work with others to find solutions, drive execution, and focus on results
- Project Management/leadership skills with expertise with problem-solving skills (8D, 9-step, etc.)
- Process knowledge for plastics: injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, and other processes used for the manufacturing of products
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Project for scheduling and Excel for advanced data modeling and technical analysis
