Our client is seeking a proactive, hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to join their project development teams. In this role, you will provide critical mechanical engineering expertise to design, prototype, and deliver complex analytical instrumentation systems and components used in mission-critical field applications.

responsibilities:
- Designs complex analytical instrumentation systems, electronic enclosures, vacuum/inlet assemblies, and machined or sheet metal components using SolidWorks
- Leads rapid prototyping efforts (utilizing both additive and traditional methods) and develops specialized test fixtures to validate designs
- Drafts and manages critical technical documentation, including detailed engineering drawings, assembly build procedures, and test protocols
- Intergaces with internal scientific and manufacturing teams, and coordinates directly with external suppliers to source parts, expedite deliveries, and resolve design contraints
- Provides ongoing mechanical engineering support for instruments already active in production and occasionally travels to customer sites or test ranges for field evaluation
