A well-established commercial contractor is hiring a Preconstruction Project Engineer to join its Pittsburgh team. You will support estimating, budgeting, and project planning efforts on a variety of commercial construction projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, MEP professional, or early-career construction professional looking to transition into preconstruction and develop a well-rounded understanding of the project lifecycle. Working closely with the Preconstruction Manager, you'll contribute to project pursuits, budgeting, proposal development, and client interactions while gaining hands-on experience across all phases of the preconstruction process.

responsibilities:
- Support budgeting, conceptual estimating, and cost planning efforts during preconstruction.
- Assist with bid packages, GMP bidding, and subcontractor solicitation.
- Participate in project pursuits, RFP responses, and proposal development.
- Coordinate day-to-day preconstruction activities and administrative processes.
- Attend client meetings and presentations, helping communicate project budgets, schedules, and planning information.
- 1+ years of construction experience (Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Engineer, MEP-focused construction professional, or similar).
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, with communication and presentation skills.
- Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; open to MEP designers, architects, recent graduates, and field professionals transitioning into preconstruction.
