A Construction Project Engineer is needed to act as an owner's representative for a large manufacturing organization. The Construction Project Engineer will oversees building system design, startups, and commissioning activities across industrial facilities. This role manages field operations, contractor coordination, and project administration to ensure a seamless handover to end users. Ultimately, the engineer serves as the primary technical liaison between design teams, trade contractors, and plant management.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years of overall experience, including 2+ years in construction management and 5+ years in structural design. Extensive knowledge of building codes (IBC, NFPA), OSHA safety standards, ACS systems, and manufacturing facility experience-preferably automotive-is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, and software tools like AutoCAD or Bluebeam is highly preferred. This is a long-term contract role, and our client is only seeking local talent currently.

- Serve as a subject matter expert reviewing submittals, shop drawings, engineering specifications, and RFIs
- Direct general contractors, coordinate steel detailing, and oversee work quality through regular site inspections
- Plan and execute weekend and plant shutdown activities in alignment with contractors and facility groups
- Ensure all field activities adhere strictly to OSHA regulations, building codes, and electrical standards
- Lead weekly coordination meetings, manage milestone schedules, and oversee planned utility outages
- Prepare regular field engineering progress reports and provide feedback to enhance technical standards
